Join us for a half day workshop with experienced practitioners focused on discrimination and equality.
We will be discussing the work that is being conducted across our Network, recent trends, casework and how best to work together.
Topics will include challenging discrimination post-Brexit using international instruments and working with the Equal Treatment Bench Book.
John Horan will give a lecture of the Equality and Human Rights Commission's upcoming report on disability and legal aid - the implications on claimants and those that support them, and how best to handle cases.
Will Stone will talk about equality work from a practitioner's perspective.

John Horan - Cloisters
John specialises in all kinds of anti-discrimination work and employment law. He was the first barrister to receive guidance from the EAT about disabled people's rights before any court or tribunal. In 2016 John was listed by Power 100 as one of Britain’s most influential people with a disability. In 2015 John hosted the European Commission's Monitoring Conference in Brussels on the Rights of People with Disabilities and the Courts.
John successfully challenged the state honour system in Trindad for fostering differences and not being in compliance with international law. He also successfully challenged the terms offered to part-time high court judges as discriminatory at Croydon Employment Tribunal.
John appears frequently for law centres, the FRU, ELAAS, Bar Pro Bono Unit and the Disability Law Association as well as well-known solicitors’ firms.
Will Stone - Bristol Law Centre
Will is Employment and Discrimination Solicitor and Senior Solicitor at Bristol Law Centre specialising in Discrimination and Public Law. He has worked on many discrimination cases in both the employment tribunal and county court.
Payments will be refunded if the LCN is notified of the cancellation 7 clear days in advance of the training event. If cancellation is made within 7 days of the training event, the payment will not be refunded. Non - attenders will not be refunded.
On occasion, LCN may need to cancel a course due to extenuating circumstances. The decision to cancel a training course is at the discretion of the Director. All delegates will be notified by e-mail. LCN will refund the course fees or offer a place at an alternative training event. LCN will not be liable for any costs incurred by an individual or organisation eg travel expenses, for a cancelled course.
