Sheffield Law Centre determined to continue despite legal aid cuts

Monday, November 25th 2013

All Law Centres have been badly hit by April's cuts to civil legal aid, and Sheffield Law Centre is no exception.

Nevertheless, SLC is determined to fight through the tough times and is making plans for the future. From 1 January 2014, the Law Centre will formally merge with several other local advice agencies in Sheffield, and will continue its work as a discrete part of the new organisation.

As a Law Centre spokesperson puts it,

"This merger represents good joint working by a large number of agencies in the city and is in receipt of a grant from Sheffield city council. With the merger of the law centre it will cover many areas of law, deal with a number of minority groups and deliver advice at all levels."
