Law Centre director becomes human rights commissioner

Les Allamby, the director of Law Centre (N.I.), is moving on to become Chief Commissioner with the Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission

Les is recognised as a civil society leader in Northern Ireland. He has spent over thirty years with the Law Centre in various capacities, culminating with the role of director. He has been involved in numerous campaigning and policy initiatives, and has recently represented Northern Ireland for several years on the Social Security Advisory Council. 

Julie Bishop, director of the Law Centres Network, said: "It has been a pleasure to work with Les. He is an inspirational man and has led his Law Centre from strength to strength. Law Centres' loss is Northern Ireland's gain, and I am sure he will bring his greath experience and enthusiasm to bear in his new job."
