Volunteering in a Law Centre
LCF in partnership with the Solicitors Pro Bono Group started ‘LawWorks’ some years back to assist lawyers who wish to volunteer in a Law Centre or advice agency. LawWorks is now run by the Solicitors Pro Bono Group. Visit: LawWorks. Non lawyers are also welcome.
The Law Centres Federation is the national organisation for Law Centres. However, Law Centres themselves are responsible for the recruitment of staff and decisions about volunteers and student placements.
All Law Centres and the Law Centres Federation operate an Equal Opportunities Policy, in accordance with which vacancies for employment are advertised. Advertisements are usually placed in the Public Appointments section of the Guardian on Wednesdays and the professional journals such as The Law Society Gazette or Legal Action, published by the Legal Action Group. In addition, advertisements are often also placed in selected newspapers and journals such as the Voice.
