The LCF has three types of membership: Associate Members and Affiliates as well as Full Members.

Associate Members

There are nine Associate Members of the Law Centres Federation:

AIRE
The AIRE Centre, Advice on Individual Rights in Europe provides legal advice and assistance on a case by case basis to legal practitioners or advisers.  It does not provide information or advice to the public

Castlemilk Law and Money Advice Centre (Scotland)
Castlemilk Law and Money Advice Centre is an independent, non-profit-making Law and Money Advice Centre. Its main office is in Castlemilk with branch offices in the Gorbals (Gorbals Money Advice and Law Centre) and in Toryglen.

Disability Law Service (DLS)
DLS is run by and for disabled people as an independent, national registered charity. Disabled people and their families, carers and advocates, are all welcome to get in touch with our helpline for advice. DLS only provides advice and information in these six areas of law: Disability Discrimination, Consumer, Community Care, Further and Higher Education, Employment and Welfare Benefits (Greater London Area)

EarthRights
EarthRights solicitors specialise in many aspects of public law and has a particular expertise on environmental issues - advising and representing individuals and campaigns on planning, pollution, wildlife and land law, appearing at public inquiries, and conducting legal challenges.

Ethnic Minorities Law Centre (Scotland)
The Ethnic Minorities Law Centres have developed specialist knowledge and experience in specific areas of the law, particularly discrimination and immigration. They have two offices based in Glasgow and Edinburgh

Free Legal Advice Centre (Ireland)
FLAC is based in Dublin and is an independent human rights organisation dedicated to the realisation of equal access to justice for all. FLAC currently concentrates its work on four main areas: Legal Aid, Social Welfare, Credit & Debt and Public Interest Law

Govan Law Centre (GLC) is a free legal resource. Through the legal practice of Dailly & Co., Solicitors, GLC undertake expert advice, court and tribunal representation in Scotland.

Greater Manchester Immigration Aid Centre
Greater Manchester Immigration Aid Unit (GMIAU) is a not-for-profit legal advice organisation specialising in advising and representing people in Greater Manchester in their immigration and asylum cases.

Mary Ward Legal Centre
The Mary Ward Legal Centre provides free legal advice to those on a low income, living or working in London. They can provide advice and casework in areas of debt, employment, housing and welfare benefits.

Affiliates

At an LCF AGM held in November 2007 a motion was passed to allow qualifying Law Clinics based in Universities in England, Wales and Northern Ireland to become affiliated to the Law Centres Federation.  The LCF currently has three Affiliates:

Kent Law Clinic

The Law Clinic is a partnership between students, academics and solicitors and barristers in practice locally. It has two objects: to provide a public service for local people who need legal advice and representation but cannot afford to pay for it, and to enhance the education of students in the Kent Law School

Members of the public seeking help from the Law Clinic should telephone for an appointment (01227 823311, October to March inclusive). The Law Clinic provides advice in the following areas in particular – employment, housing, benefits, contract, consumer, negligence, nuisance, family, immigration, asylum, planning and public law matters generally.

The College of Law

The College of Law is the UK’s leading provider of legal education and training with seven training centres. Two of these are affiliated to the Law Centres Federation.

College of Law centre in London

College of Law centre in London offers 3 different services providing legal advice/assistance to members of the public.From September to May their law students offer free preliminary legal advice.  All advice is given in writing after an interview and under the strict supervision of qualified staff.  Interviews are by prior appointment only after an initial telephone assessment of your case. The Centre also provides a Deaf Legal Service and a Leasehold Valuation Tribunal Representation Service. Telephone 01483 216528 for further information.

College of Law Legal Advice Centre in Birmingham

College of Law Legal Advice Centre in Birmingham became affiliated on the LCF in November 2008. From September to May their law students offer free initial legal advice specialising in non-urgent employment, family law and related issues such as housing.  All advice is given in writing only following interview, under the strict supervision of qualified staff.  Interviews are by prior appointment only. The Legal Advice Centre also runs Birmingham Employment Rights Advice Line – BERAL and the Birmingham Employment Advice Clinic. Telephone 01483 216050 for further information.
